Mayo Clinic PM&R Pediatric Fellowship

Hello, My name is Mary Lynch. I am the 2022 graduating fellow from Mayo Clinic Rochester’s Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine (PRM) Fellowship. We are ACGME accredited and accept one fellow every other year. Being our only fellow, you would experience flexibility & tailored learning to your personal interests and career goals. Our match is conducted though the National Resident Match Program (NRMP) and applications should be submitted through ERAS by August 31, 2022, to start in July 2023.

Fellows rotate at Mayo Clinic Hospital, Saint Marys Campus which houses a level 1 pediatric trauma center and our pediatric and family-centered CARF accredited rehabilitation unit. Outpatient time is spent at Mayo Clinic downtown campus for a diverse range of clinics, both PRM and other pediatrics subspecialties. There is an option to rotate at Shriner’s Hospitals for Children—Twin Cities and/or the University of Florida/Brooks Hospital. Rochester, MN is a convenient, safe, and friendly community with plenty of space to relax and recharge. PRM fellows have no weekend patient care responsibilities so have time to enjoy the distinct four seasons that Minnesota has to offer!

Here at Mayo Clinic, PRM is integrated into the coordinated care model for children with both complex and common medical conditions. The fellow also manages local patients in longitudinal clinic. There is an emphasis on learning ultrasound, EMG, and electrical stimulation guidance for botulinum toxin and phenol injections in awake and sedated patients. We have a robust didactic curriculum including core PRM board review, PRM bimonthly conferences, PRM and PM&R journal clubs, and lecture series from PM&R and pediatric subspecialties, gait lab, and more! The fellow has access to optional curriculums in anatomy, ultrasound training, global health, research, education science, quality improvement, healthcare delivery, and ethics. We offer dedicated time, mentorship, and statistical support for research and a generous travel policy.

We are looking for a fellowship candidate who is a PMR board-eligible DO or MD with eagerness, creativity, collegiality, and curiosity. The ideal candidate is passionate about the care of children with disabilities, serves as strong patient advocate, and upholds the primary Mayo value, “the needs of the patient come first.” Our culture is one of respect and inclusion with a drive towards excellence. I would 100% choose this fellowship again!
