Interventional Radiofrequency Course Annapolis, MD Course Chair: Brian Kahan, D.O. FAOCPMR, FAAPMR, DABIPP, FIPP Course Description: This intensive boutique style workshop will provide a hands on didactic educational session on medial branch blocks and radiofrequency lesioning of the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine. The attendee will develop a complete understanding of the indications for medial branch blocks and radiofrequency lesioning for spinal pain. The workshop will improve your knowledge of spinal anatomy and utilization of fluoroscopy to identify the important landmarks to successfully perform these spinal injections and improve patient care. This course is limited for 8 attendees only. Attendees must be PGY-4 or higher and have completed a lumbar interventional course. First come first serve basis. The faculty will provide hands on experience, in addition to easy access, to discussing with them their multiple years of experience of performing these injections successfully. In addition to the closeness of working with faculty, the participant will learn the true medical necessity for performing these injections on patients. The faculty will teach you how to perform the following injections with confidence: Lumbar, cervical and thoracic medial branch blocks Lumbar, cervical and thoracic radiofrequency lesioning Sacroiliac joint bipolar and medial branch radiofrequency lesioning
Upon completion of the course participants will learn: Fluoroscopic anatomy to perform medial branch blocks and radiofrequency lesions Medical necessity for performing medial branch blocks and radiofrequency lesions Indications and contraindications of medial branch blocks and radiofrequency lesions Correct coding and medical documentation for medial branch blocks and radiofrequency lesions
