Emory University Interventional Spine Fellowship

The Emory Interventional Spine Fellowship is a one-year program designed to train physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of spinal disorders with a focus on interventional techniques. The program participates in the North American Spine Society (NASS) Consortium of Fellowships. Fellows in this program can be assured that they will be exposed to a vast patient population and pathology as Emory has one of the largest practices in the country. Cases over a broad range of conditions, including degenerative, traumatic, and deformity-related spine issues. Fellows also gain experience cases of tumors and infections affecting the spine. During the training year, fellows will have advanced procedural training with procedures such as kyphoplasty, basivertebral nerve ablations, spinal cord stimulators trials and implantations, and peripheral nerve stimulators. The focus of the fellowship year is on procedural training and the clinical nuances of spine care, with additional training in advanced imaging reading.

Within the Department of Orthopaedics, fellows will work closely with spine physiatry and spinal surgeons. Through Emory's academic resources, fellows have opportunities for robust clinical research. Working closely with the continuum of spine care fosters close working relationships between psychiatrists, surgeons, and therapy teams.

As the fellowship year progresses, fellows are able to customize their schedules based on their specific clinical interests. The didactic series also includes a focus on financial wellness and billing/coding to prepare fellows for the business aspects of running a successful practice. Lastly, the program has an excellent work-life balance.

The fellowship is located in Atlanta. Atlanta is the capital city of US state of Georgia and offers fellows a wealth of attractions and activities to explore. The city is home to a vibrant arts and culture scene, with numerous museums, theaters, a world-famous aquarium, and galleries. For sports enthusiasts, Atlanta offers numerous opportunities to catch a game, including the Atlanta Braves baseball team and the Atlanta Falcons football team.
